Technical, analytical and computational skills


Technical and analytical experience

  • Accumulated extensive experience on the electron microprobe (EPMA) during 9 years of post-graduate research (includes operating, teaching and data interpretation) using microanalytical instruments:
  1. JEOL JXA8200 Superprobe with five wavelength dispersive X-ray (WDX) spectrometers
  2. JEOL JSM6310 scanning electron microscope equipped with an Oxford Link ISIS energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectrometer and a WDX spectrometer
  • Seven years technical experience making fused pellets for XRF and also operating Bruker Pioneer S4 X-ray fluorescence spectrometer at the Institute of Earth Science, Karl-Franzens-Universität, Austria
  • Making pellets and using XRD instruments

Computational skills

  • Extensive programming skills using MatLab, Visual Basic and Visual Studio
  • Extensive experience using ArcGIS to build geological databases (e.g. DML database)
  • Extensive experience using THERMOCALC and Perple_X
